 Ci Seryne

Ci Seryne a.k.a. Ms SeryneBeats:  Born in Paramaribo, Surinam came to Holland at age 10. As second youngest she was very much influenced by her brother and sister. Coming from a family of singers and guitar players musical styles were very diverse. Pop, Rock, Soul, hip-hop, Latin and African sounds prevailed at home.

Started out as a hip-hop producer and mc in the mid nineties. Carved out to be different and sting with an unusual sound. She participated at different projects like “Best of A” and even put out some hip hop releases July 2006 on the Beatcd called “BBQ”, beat banging quality. She felt like there was more than making beats and writing lyrics. ‘Bout 3 years ago she got involved in a DJ-ing workshop led by a renowned DJ. She was impressed by this guy’s style and pursued a new era. Together with a friend she formed an all female DJ team called "Rags2Riches". Within no time they got gigs at Paradiso, Club Home formerly known as Sinners, Powerzone, The Sand, Club Rain and Hotel Arena. All the practicing and gigs made her understand and love this craft, so she gave back. At the youth centre where she started out, she began giving DJ classes to schools and the private sector. The entire time in the Club scene, she grew an explicit style of Groove. Quote: "its all about the drums, i love drums". As the growth evolved, the hunger to reach more and do more got the best of her. Now its 2010, and Ms Seryne is ready to take a shot at her solo career.

DCREAL67

Is Hip Hopper sinds hij in de beginjaren tachtig kennismaakte met breakdancing, graffiti, emceeing, deejaying en beatboxing. Hij heeft zich vooral toegelegd op HipHop-deejaying, tegenwoordig ook turntablizm genoemd. DC draait graag tijdens open mic-sessies, mc-battles, b-boybattles of gewoon ‘freestyle’. Behalve het perfectioneren van zijn (quick-) mixtechnieken, cutting en scratching, houdt DCREAL67 zich ook bezig met produceren. Hij brengt in 2009 een album uit met ’strictly dope beats en dope emcees’. DC legt de lat hoog. Hij zegt: “Dat album wordt een klassieker, een bombardement van rauwe skillz. Noem het voor mijn part de Nederlandse ‘Return of the Boom-Bap’.”

Amsterdam's DJ Broky B is an experienced DJ. In 1991, at age 17, he became 6th in the Dutch DMC Finals. He had been dj-ing for only a year then. In the years after that he was busy with many projects

ACTIVITIES

Broky was one of the founders of Dutch DJ-crew The Wax Wankerz.This crew made music with the turntables: turntablism From 2000 to 2004 Broky did a lot of shows with this crew. A highlight was a performance in Vredenburg, Utrecht (The Netherlands) where the WW had to make a mix of Strawinsky's Sacre Du Printemps and hip-hop beats. The same piece was conducted that night by "Het Radio Philharmonisch Orkest".

In 2003 the WW toured all over The Netherlands with dance group Ish in a show called "Kicks". This show featured 4 dancers and 3 DJ's, a rare thing to witness in theatres.

Recently Broky did a solo project with another orchestra: Het Brabants Orkest. This time he mixed Strawinsky's Firebird with drum'n bass and hip-hop.

From 1999 to 2004 Broky was part of theatre group Ish. With them he made many productions and toured across Holland. Ish performed at all prominent theatres including the Royal Theatre Carr矩n Amsterdam. The group also toured Belgium, the USA and Canada.Together with Ish and Toneelgroep Amsterdam he was in a production called Heroish. Again this production was a crossover of styles: dj-ing, dance, acting.

Marqueez a.k.a. THE Feniks

 

Als kind af ben ik beïnvloed door allerlei soorten muziek in huis. Marvin Gaye, Ottis Redding.Jemi Hendrix, Country gospel en gewone country muziek. Aretha Franklin, Jackson Five, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh en zelfs disco!

Later in mijn tiener fase was het dancehall, soca muziek en zouk, maar wat mijn aandacht ook had getrokken was hip hop en heavy metal. Iconen zoals 2pac, Biggie, terug in de tijd van Pharcyde, Nas, The roots en veel anderen had mij geïnspireerd om daar iets te ondernemen. Ik had zelfs vrienden die grote DJ waren in hun tijd op het Caribische eiland van St.Maarten. Ik vond het zelfs ook toen leuk om op klein feestjes te draaien. Op school zat ik te freestylen en soms battle ik met mijn broertje.

Toen ik in Nederland kwam, ging ik voor het eerst optreden in Utrecht met een voormalige groep die heet Henchmen. Die groep bestond uit Tha Rookie, producer en een paar andere gasten die ik de namen ben vergeten. Daar ontdekte ik dat ik niet alleen kon rappen en of teksten schrijven maar ook beats maken. Maar ik had de angst dat als ik een beat maakte zou de andere leden jaloers worden of wat frictie veroorzaken betreffende wie de producer eigenlijk waren. Bij dezen kwam later in mijn leven veel tegen. Later in de jaren had een vriend van me aan een jongen voorgesteld die erase heet in Rotterdam. Daar begon ik met rappen en twee tracks gedaan in Night Town te Rotterdam. Dat was in de periode van 95’. The feedback was zeer positief voor beide gevallen.

Daar verhuisde ik naar Groningen. “But the HIP HOP did not stop there!”
Ik heb een paar kerels daar leren kennen en we begonnen een groep die heette RUFFRYHME CREATORS. Daar hielp ik ermee met teksten schrijven voor leden van de groep en ook rappen. Ik trad daar ook op in Groningen. We waren bij Platform theater, simplon, noorderplastoen en club 29.

Op een gegeven moment begon ik in Groningen in de periode van 98’mijn eigen beats te maken.

Door vervelende omstandigheden kwam er een vertraging in mijn leven dat ik er geen aandacht meer bestede en ging in een spirituele zoektocht van mijn zelf.

Nu ben ik terug met meer muziek in mijn lichaam en daar wil ik me focussen tot ik mijn doel heeft bereik en dat is zoveel mogelijk artiesten een kans geven in het muziek wereld waar de anderen hun geen kans bieden. Ik heb zelf wat remixen gedaan die je op youtube kan vinden zoals “Kempi- Wakker in Du cel- remix 2.0 en een remix gemaakt voor Gio- Obssesie.
